As a report, many tourists choose to apply for a Schengen visa a country where the process is faster or easier as compared to others.

The practice is known as ‘visa shopping’. Is it a good idea?

“It is recommended that travelers refrain from visa shopping, a practice common among travelers heading to Europe,” said a VFS Global representative.

As appointments are limited, people applying for Schengen visas have a tendency to apply wherever an appointment is available.

” It is strongly recommended that applicants refrain from doing so, as this could result in a rejection of the visa application due to improper documents,” said the spokesperson.

A number of European countries have taken extra precautions to stop ‘visa shopping’. During the visa application process, tourists have to go through extra checks to ensure that their information is accurate in order to obtain visas more quickly.

According to the Schengen visa from India
main rule, if you plan to visit more than one country, you must apply for a visa from the country where the maximum stay is allowed.

When you plan to visit two or more countries for an equal amount of time (few days of difference), ensure that you apply for a visa from the country you first visit or that is your primary destination.

Apart from this, you can also get a visa from the country in which you will be entering.

There are 27 countries in the Schengen area – Austria, Croatia, Czechia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Estonia, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Belgium, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Slovenia, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.
