Many people are beginning to look ahead to 2023 and the anticipated changes to immigration as 2022 come to a close. Many people are curious about the future of Canadian immigration in 2023 after the new immigration plans ( Express Entry) for 2023 and 2025 were announced, the NOC codes were updated, and Bill C-19 was passed.
The Canadian government uses Express Entry, an online system, to organize and process applications from skilled workers who want to immigrate to Canada and become permanent residents. The three main federal economic programs are managed by the system:
- Federal Skilled Worker (FSW)
- Federal Skilled Trades (FST)
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
Changes to Express Entry
IRCC has expressed its expectation to start leading designated Express Entry draws in 2023. The government would be better able to fill specific labor shortages and target skilled workers through targeted draws.
The framework for holding such targeted draws would be provided by Bill C-19. Candidates would be able to be invited based on the IRCC’s groupings thanks to this bill. The IRCC would be able to purposefully target candidates based on their occupation, language proficiency, and/or education in order to fill specific gaps.
Minister of Immigration Sean Fraser claims that the current Express Entry all program draws do not adequately address the requirements for immigration at the present time. Canada is unable to attract foreign nationals with the skills and experience that are most in demand in the country due to the current draws.
It’s as yet muddled precisely the way that these designated draws will be done, what will be focused on, or how frequently. Targeted draws are expected to begin in the first quarter of 2023, but a specific date has not yet been announced.
Although the precise classifications have not yet been established; They will probably be based on things like having work experience, having attended school, or knowing one of Canada’s official languages. They might, for instance, issue a round of invitations exclusively to candidates who speak French or who have experience in a particular, highly sought-after occupation.
2023 – 2025 Express Entry (Immigration Targets)
Immigration is included in the most recent immigration plan as a means of addressing labor market shortages. It also aims to attract the skills needed to fill key positions in the manufacturing, technology, health care, and skilled trades industries.
In order to address these shortages and fill in-demand positions in the industries experiencing the greatest shortages, Express Entry will be an essential tool.
Canada will see an annual increase in the number of new immigrants over the next three years. In 2023, Canada intends to accept 465,000 new immigrants. The objective will ascend to 485,000 new foreigners in 2024. In addition, it will once more rise to 500,000 new immigrants in 2025.
Through the Provincial Nominee Program, the Atlantic Immigration Program, and the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot, the new plan also aims to expand regional programs to specifically address local labor market requirements.
Make Sure You’re Prepared
By filling out your profile correctly, you can guarantee that your application will be considered. It is essential to ensure that your profile contains all pertinent information because the groupings that will be used are still unknown.
For instance, if you are proficient in both English and French, test results may be useful. This would help you get the most CRS points and give your profile a chance to be chosen for French language ability groups.
It’s also important to make sure you’ve picked the best TEER category for your job. Your Express Entry profile needs to be updated with the most accurate TEER category as the government moves from NOC codes to TEER categories because there will likely be targeted draws based on specific TEERs.
